The Ministry of Transport has officially commenced a comprehensive roadside Inspection to assess the current saturation and conditions of key roads in Monrovia and its surrounding areas. The exercise, which began on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, is spearheaded by the Road Safety Secretariat.
A six men Road Safety delegate departed Liberia on the 2nd of July 2024 to attend the 11th West Africa Road Safety Organization (WARSO) Conference held in Conakry, Guinea scheduled from the 3rd to the 5th of July 2024 under the theme: “Towards a mid-term review of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety (2021-2030): Lead Agencies Appraisals”.
The Ministry of Public Works has received funding from the World Bank through its Liberia Reconstruction Trust Fund (LRTF) support to the Coca-Cola Factory – Gbarnga Road Project to implement road safety activities. A component of the road safety activity, which is supervised by the Road Safety Secretariat (RSS) hosted at the Ministry of Transport (MOT), is being implemented by the Transport Engineering Division of the Ministry of Public Works.
The World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic victims is celebrated once a year globally for all countries that are signatories to the UN Decade for Action on Road Safety.
The Road Safety Secretariat housed at the Ministry of Transport on Thursday, November 1, 2022, organized a one-day program held at the Monrovia City Hall in observance of the World Day of Remembrance for Accident Victims. The program was organized under the theme, REMEMBER, SUPPORT, and ACT with assistance from the World Bank-Liberia and it brought together health workers, students, marketers, transport unions, and Government employees among others.
