Safet Street Festival

The 1st Safe Streets Festival on Saturday, 25th November 2017 on Broad Street, Central Monrovia was a unique and first of its kind event in Liberia after the civil war!

More than 7,000 Liberians celebrated safe streets, peace, cultural diversity, and sports and were informed on basic rules of road safety. Liberia loses up to 7% of its GDP due to insufficient road safety measures and high levels of traffic-related deaths and injuries.

The Safe Streets Festival was organized to increase public awareness about road safety under the motto “Road Safety Strengthens Economy”.

The event is inspired by the European Mobility Week. The one-day event was aimed at promoting mobility and road safety in the transport sector of Liberia. The fun-packed program included a 5km run and family walk, a market space of Liberian goods, sports, and cultural activities on Broad Street and concluded with a live concert in the evening.
